Job description

In Ukraine the peace education program is implemented in partnership with civil society organisations in line with the “New Ukrainian School’ reform policy of the Ministry of Education and Science. In Moldova the focus will be on digital peace building for youth addressing disinformation, hate speech and conspiracy theories. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) measures are an integral part of all the interventions. We are currently seeking a highly dedicated and knowledgeable CPS Advisor (m/f/d) with peacebuilding experience to support the formal and non-formal peace education program in both countries. The CPS Advisor will be part of the CPS team supporting partner organisations in Ukraine (remote) and Moldova (in presence). The activities listed below will initially be carried out from Moldova.

Your tasks

  • Key role in strategic and operational planning of the PE projects in Ukraine and Moldova and contribute with relevant technical support in line with the GIZ/CPS UA/MD program objectives
  • Support of partner organisations in the planning and design of the peace education and youth programmes
  • Assess the capacity of partner organisations and initiates, develop, and carry out capacity development workshops according to the needs and in collaboration with the CPS team
  • Support of partner organisations during the implementation of peace education and youth programmes
  • Advise and support partner organisations on the recommendations of the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings and integrates MHPSS measures in all the program interventions
  • Work closely together with the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor of the CPS program in UA/MD ensuring the quality of the projects in line with the Theory of Change and Process Indicators
  • Support of the integration of cross-cutting topics like conflict sensitivity, human rights, gender equality and participatory approaches of women, girls, youth, elderly, and people with disabilities
  • Contribution to the knowledge management, proper record keeping of all documentation and take part and contribute to the CPS global learning community

Your profile

  • University degree in social or political science, peace and conflict studies, education, or psychology (or equivalent)
  • Certified qualification in the fields of peace work (Do-No-Harm, Reflecting on Peace Practice, Peace and Conflict Analysis), human rights, and gender equality
  • A good understanding of peacebuilding and conflict prevention in the context of Ukraine and Moldova
  • Very good skills and proven experience in the facilitation of participatory workshops and trainings
  • Experience in cooperation with state institutions (ideally in the educational system) as well as non-governmental organisations
  • Acceptance of frequent duty trips in the regions of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, possible international duty trips
  • Integrative team player, ready for continuous self-reflection, solution oriented, patient, and resilient
  • Very good communication and negotiation skills
  • Preferably knowledge of the Ukrainian/Russian and/or Romanian language and business fluent in English

The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. The freedom of movement is restricted. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment. The field of activity of the position relates to Ukraine. The activities are currently carried out to Moldova. Depending on the security situation and the requirements of GIZ, it is possible that the location will be relocated from Moldova back to Ukraine.

The project vehicle can also be used for personal trips with your manager’s approval.
