About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Strategy Lead to work for our client within the energy sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the likelihood to be extended and will be a hybrid role based in Solihull.
Our client is looking for someone to ensure their organisation’s readiness for the upcoming Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) transition from a data perspective, aligning with overarching data strategies, ensuring seamless migration, and enabling high-quality data-driven business processes post-implementation.
Responsibilities

  • Confirm and define the future use and storage strategy for Half-Hourly (HH) data in a post-MHHS world
  • Ensure alignment with the organisation's overarching data strategy
  • Prepare and equip teams with the necessary data tools, knowledge, and support for migration
  • Support the transition of customer and metering data between platforms, ensuring business continuity
  • Recommend and implement strategies to ensure the quality of industry, customer, and internal/external data during migration
  • Establish protocols to maintain data integrity post-migration, with a focus on handling increased and diversified data sets
  • Review and evaluate all systems for functional and non-functional impacts due to increased data volumes under MHHS
  • Ensure no degradation of system performance or service stability across IT infrastructure
  • Evaluate and propose a single source for managing and delivering Half-Hourly consumption data for customers
  • Assess and review change mandates to identify and mitigate any data-related impacts in a post-MHHS environment

About You

Requirements

  • Background in the energy or utilities sector with exposure to customer and industry data handling
  • Strong understanding of the Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) framework or Half Hourly metering and its implications on data handling
  • Experience in developing and aligning data strategies with organisational objectives
  • Past transition experience to a new metering type
  • Must have experience of working in the electricity industry and working with Half-Hourly data
  • Proven ability to analyse system performance and scalability in response to increased data volumes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of working across multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership teams
  • Knowledge of IT systems architecture, software applications, and reporting tools related to energy or utilities
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Professional certifications in data governance, IT systems, or project management (e.g., DAMA, ITIL, PRINCE2)
